Champion of Champions: The Winner

Over the past several weeks, you’ve voted in our Champion of Champions Tournament, designed to crown your favorite champion of the past decade.  In that time, we’ve logged over 1,600 votes and whittled the list of champions narrower and narrower.  Now, we have a winner!  In the final round of voting that took place this past weekend, Stone Cold Steve Austin was able to defeat the Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels by just one vote!  Congratulations to the Texas Rattlesnake, and thank you to all of you who have voted over the past month!

Champion of Champions: The Finale

It all comes down to this...

Over the past month, you, the readers of ProRasslin.com, have voted in a series of matches meant to determine you’re favorite champion of the past decade.  Many great champions and sure-fire Hall of Famers have already been eliminated.  Among their number are some of the all-time greats: Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Triple H, The Rock, and so on.  Now we are down to our final two.  We previewed our epic final battle earlier this week: Stone Cold vs Shawn Michaels.  Voting will be open all weekend, and for the first time, you have the option of voting here on the site or by “liking” our Official Facebook page and answering the poll there.  Come Monday, we will have a Champion of Champions.  You know the combatants.  You’ve seen the tale of the tape.  Now it’s time that you vote for you favorite champion to advance into winner’s circle.

Preview: Stone Cold vs Shawn Michaels

Our Champion of Champions Tournament is approaching its end.  Over the past several weeks, you’ve voted for your favorite champions of the past decade, and we are now down to the final stretch.

Quality competitors like Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Jeff Hardy, and CM Punk were eliminated in the qualifying stages, before the Tournament even began.  John Cena, Batista, Hulk Hogan, JBL, Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Rob Van Dam, and current WWE Champion The Miz never saw it past the first round.  The quarterfinals claimed casualties like Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, and Edge.  Most recently, Triple H & The Rock have been eliminated.

And then there were two.

There’s not much I can tell you about Stone Cold Steve Austin or The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels that you don’t already know.  Be sure to visit on Friday and cast your vote, either here at ProRasslin.com or on our Official Facebook page.  Voting will remain open all weekend, and the winner of our Champion of Champions Tournament will be posted here on Monday afternoon.

Champion of Champions Semi-Final Results

WWE WWF The Rock Triple H

This is precisely what you won't be seeing in the finals of our tournament.

This weekend, you voted in the semi-final round of ProRasslin.com’s Champion of Champions Tournament, designed to crown your favorite champion of the past decade.  The votes have been tallied, two fantastic entertainers have been eliminated, and our final matchup has been set.

Both Triple H and The Rock have been eliminated, so anyone hoping to see a Brahma Bull vs Cerebral Assassin final is going to be disappointed.  Shawn Michaels was able to oust his sometimes-friend, sometimes-foe counterpart, Triple H, garnering just under 70% of the vote to beat him.  Meanwhile, in a rematch from WrestleManias XV, X7, and XIX, Stone Cold Steve Austin was victorious over The Rock when he received over 3/4 of the votes.

Now, we are down to our final two competitors.  At some point this week, we’ll have a preview up for the upcoming Shawn Michaels vs Steve Austin showdown, and voting on the match will begin Friday and last all weekend.  You’ll be able to vote here on the site, AND on ProRasslin.com’s official Facebook page, so be sure to become a fan if you are not already.  Below is an updated bracket, the last you’ll see.  The winner of the Champion of Champions Tournament will be announced a week from today, the morning after WrestleMania.

Triple H & The Rock were both eliminated in the semi-finals of our tournament, leaving the Heartbreak Kid and the Texas Rattlesnake as the last men standing.

Champion of Champions: The Final 4

The Final Four of our Champion of Champions Tournament

During the past three weekends, you’ve voted in the first and second rounds of our Champion of Champions Tournament, designed to determine your favorite champion of the past decade.  Great champions like Chris Jericho, Kurt Angle, Randy Orton, and Edge have already been eliminated.  We are now down to our final four.  This weekend we’ll eliminate two more competitors in our semi-final matches, and come Monday, only two will remain.  We’ve previewed both of this week’s matches already: The Rock vs Stone Cold and Shawn Michaels vs Triple H.  Voting for these two matches will be open all weekend; the results will be posted Monday.  The tournament will conclude next weekend when a victor is crowned.  You know the combatants.  You’ve seen the tale of the tape.  Now it’s time that you vote for you favorite champions to advance into the next round.

Preview: Shawn Michaels vs Triple H

Our Champion of Champions Tournament is down to the Final 4, and among them are Shawn Michaels and Triple H.  The Heartbreak Kid advanced to this point first with a shocking win over John Cena, and then by beating Kurt Angle by a ridiculously large margin.  Triple H’s road to this juncture included a victory over The Undertaker, followed by a more dominant showing over Edge.  Now, the two former degenerates will clash in the semi-finals of our tournament.

Triple H and Shawn Michaels have an extensive history together.  They’ve been tag team champions and were the co-founders of one of the most successful stables of the 1990’s, D-Generation X.  They’ve also waged war against each other on a number of occasions, and when they have, they’ve fought tooth and nail to prove their supremacy.  The on-again off-again allies have faced off in a Hell in a Cell match, a Last Man Standing match, and even a 3 Stages of Hell match.  They’ve split the victories, and honestly, the duo are about as evenly matched as opponents can get.  Which Kliq member has your backing, The Showstopper or The Cerebral Assassin?  Be sure to come back on Friday to enter your vote and help your prefered degenerate advance into the finals!

Preview: The Rock vs Stone Cold

Our Champion of Champions Tournament is down to the Final 4, and among them are The Rock and Stone Cold Steve Austin.  The Rock advanced to this stage first with a narrow victory over Batista, and then with a commanding win over Chris Jericho.  Stone Cold’s path included a landslide victory over JBL, followed by a more competitive win against Randy Orton.  Now, the two Attitude Era legends will clash in the semi-finals of our tournament.

The Rock & Stone Cold are no strangers to one another.  They’ve competed against each other inside of a steel cage, in classic Survivor Series match, and at a record three WrestleManias.  They’ve feuded over the Intercontinental Championship, and then the WWE Title.  They’ve stolen each other’s finishing maneuvers, they’ve been tag team partners, and they’ve even performed a duet of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville in the middle of the ring.  Hell, on this very date 11 years ago they were involved in one of wrestling’s most memorable moments together.  Their careers will be forever linked.  The above video hypes their match at WrestleMania XIX, a match that would ultimately be Steve Austin’s last.  Austin had won their previous two WrestleMania encounters, at XV and X7, but it was The Rock who finally emerged victorious in their last meeting.  Which superstar do you support?  Be sure to visit on Friday and log your vote for either The People’s Champion or the Texas Rattlesnake – this one is sure to be a real slobberknocker!
