The infamous botched Invasion angle was bad for a number of reasons, not the least of which was the lack of main event WCW talent contracted by the WWE after the company’s purchase. Just as great a problem was the misuse of the wrestlers who were brought in. Diamond Dallas Page was one of WCW’s greatest home-grown success stories, so it was a bit confusing when WWE completely repackaged him, abandoning his working man character and morphing him into a motivational speaker. Page’s positive thinking persona was entertaining, sure, but it prevented him from achieving the main event status that he’d proven himself capable of in the past. And that’s a bad thing.
